Oporto International Airport (Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport) is the second-busiest in the country. There are also 16 daily flights between Lisbon and Oporto airport.

Transportation from and to the Airport to Viana do Castelo meeting Friday 28th September afternoon , Saturday 29th mornig and Tuesday 2nd October afternoon will be provided (pre-registration).

Cellphones

If you have a GSM compatible mobile you will be able to use your foreign handset in Portugal. To avoid running up huge bills, it is a good idea to buy a Portuguese SIM card.

To obtain a prepaid SIM card you should go to one of the network provider's shops. There you will be asked for your name and address. No proof of address is required but they may wish to photocopy your passport or ID card.

You can top up your credit with a minimum payment of 5€ by:

using the ATM Multibanco system;
dialling 1255 you can add credit via the multibanco telecargaservice;
visiting any participating shop i.e. Agent Payshop.

Restaurants

The portuguese cuisine can be described as substantial, succulent, abundant and varied. It has many typical fish and meat dishes, desserts, always accompanied by good-quality wines.

Besides many restaurants (for all prices), there are also cafés, pastries/bakeries and snack-bars that prepare light meals and snacks. For all these reasons, “going out for a meal” is very common in Portugal. Restaurants are usually open as follows: 12.00 – 14.30; 19.00 – 22.00.
